Your Systems Engineering Career Will Take Shape With Our In-House Modeling Language Bootcamp

Can you imagine the difficulties of a document based project that has varying funding levels, government and nongovernment teams, and civilian teams with different bureaucratic structures? In the past, handwritten notes and calculations were often appended to long printouts. Meetings could turn into translation sessions. It was all the more frustrating to the customer, as progress was difficult to demonstrate.

Model-based systems engineering eliminates confusion within contractor teams and allows continuity in long-term projects. Model-based systems engineers develop flexible visual solutions to customer problems. MBSE Object Management Group (OMG) teams are better equipped to handle design impacts, software lifecycle architecture demands, and earlier identification of inconsistent and erroneous requirements. That’s not to say that other certifications are not valued. Many of our system engineers are also trained by International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and have their Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) credentials. In fact, we are often working legacy projects that are moving from more documentation centric systems to more model based solutions.

So MBSE is not the only way, but it is becoming more accepted as a means to visualize requirements, ensure diagram consistency, define traceability paths, improve design quality, and enhance knowledge capture and transfer. Since we see it as the best method for most contracts in the future, INTUITIVE employees have the benefit of in-house training and certification that will serve them throughout their entire career.

There are 4 levels of the OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Professional™ (OCSMP™) and each one builds upon and is a prerequisite for the next one.  Each subsequent level increases in complexity and emphasizes the integration and communication required across different model viewpoints. We offer an OCSMP SysML, Systems Modeling Language, certification to our employees through a “boot camp.” Many of our engineers, including those with software and electrical backgrounds, have found that modeling language gives them a common understanding across teams.

With models, data is plentiful, readily accessible (i.e. easier to communicate), and more maintainable. Clients appreciate this overall continuity and the savings it represents. Our MBSE teams are able to define robust system requirements, system behavior, design, interconnections, and verification of such capabilities in support of our nation’s warfighters.

We believe MBSE comprises the skill set of the most dynamic engineers of the future.  This is a great time for engineers to establish a foundation with modeling language. If you are interested in increasing your capabilities in areas such as behavioral analysis, system architecture, requirement derivation and traceability, performance analysis, simulation, test, and system automation then there is no better time to check us out at irtc-hq.com/careers.
